Computer definitions

1. Computer: An electronic device that helps you perform tasks, access information, and play games using various programs.

2. Hardware: The physical parts of a computer that you can touch, like the screen, keyboard, and mouse.

3. Software: Programs that you can't touch, but they let you do different things on the computer, like browsing the internet or writing documents.

4. CPU (Central Processing Unit): The brain of the computer that thinks and makes everything work together.

5. RAM (Random Access Memory): The computer's short-term memory that helps it do tasks quickly.

6. Storage: Where the computer keeps all the stuff you save, like files, photos, and videos.

7. Hard Drive: The part of the computer where you store things for the long term, like a digital filing cabinet.

8. SSD (Solid State Drive): A faster and newer type of storage that helps make the computer speedy.

9. Motherboard: The main part inside the computer that connects everything together.

10. Graphics Card: A special part that makes images and videos look good on the screen.

22. URL (Uniform Resource Locator): The address you type in the browser to go to a specific webpage.

23. Firewall: A security guard that helps protect your computer from bad stuff on the internet.

24. Antivirus: Special software that looks for and gets rid of computer viruses and bad programs.

25. Malware: Bad software that can harm your computer, like viruses or spyware.

26. Virus: A type of malware that can spread from one computer to another and cause trouble.

27. Router: A device that helps connect the computer to the internet and other devices in the house.

28. Modem: The thing that talks to the internet provider so you can get online.

29. LAN (Local Area Network): A small network of computers and devices in your home or office.

30. WAN (Wide Area Network): A bigger network that connects many LANs together, like the internet.

31. ISP (Internet Service Provider): The company that gives you access to the internet.

32. Cloud Computing: Storing and using data and programs over the internet instead of just on your computer.

33. Backup: Making a copy of your important files in case something bad happens to your computer.

34. File: A collection of information, like a document or a picture, stored on the computer.

35. Folder: A digital container that helps organize and store multiple files on the computer.

36. Document: A file containing words, images, or numbers that you can create and edit.

37. Spreadsheet: A file used for organizing data in rows and columns, often for numbers and calculations.

38. Database: A structured collection of information that can be easily accessed and managed.

39. Operating System: The software that controls how the computer works and lets you use programs.

40. Windows: A popular operating system that makes your computer easy to use.

41. macOS: The operating system used on Apple's Mac computers.

42. Linux: An open-source operating system used on various computers and devices.

43. Android: The operating system for many smartphones and tablets, made by Google.

44. iOS: The operating system for iPhones and iPads, made by Apple.

45. Browser Cache: A place where the browser stores some website data to make pages load faster.

46. Cookies: Small pieces of information stored by websites to remember your preferences and settings.

47. Cursor: The arrow or pointer on the screen that moves when you use the mouse or touchpad.

48. GUI (Graphical User Interface): A way to interact with the computer using pictures and icons.

49. File Extension: A set of letters at the end of a file's name that shows what kind of file it is.
